Bought this helmet last June. Pretty light, comfortable, good field of vision, BUT...the pads on the area of the back of the head completely came off in less than a year's use. Other pads are loose and/or fraying, etc. This makes this helmet a non-repeater for me. I sure expected more out of a name like Mizuno. Much more. Buy something else.

This was my first year as an Ump so I didn’t want to spend a lot of $$ on gear to starting out. After calling a complete season of school ball and lot of travel ball, I have no complaints about the mask. The weight of it was no problem after one or two games. As far as protection goes, I’m beyond pleased with the way it protects the neck area and absorbs impact.

I was in the market for mask that would do a better job of absorbing the impact of a foul ball, and this one really does a great job. In my first game behind the plate after purchasing, I took 3 balls off the mask in the span of about 2 innings. These were 18U college commits and these guys were throwing and hitting with unreal velocity. This mask took the impact and and I shook it off without like it was nothing. That was not the case with my lightweight All-Star mask I used to use. The mask is slightly heavier than I anticipated, but it only took a game or two to get used to it. If you aren't in a position to spend over $200 or even over $120, this is a great option.
