Fit ** Product tends to rotate away from the desired protection area utilizing the "dual finger" anchor loops, with no apparent solution to stop the movement. Upon using both loops on the index finger, the rotation upon movement has nearly stopped with only occasional re-positioning required.
Function ** actually provides sufficient protection from ball strikes. Experienced a few and thus far has protected as advertised. Good addition to my protective gear roster, and will be worn on every dish assignment.

This product by far is the best hand protection on the market in my opinion. Mobility is not a problem with this product. Took a shot on the hands the other day and felt a little thump and that was it. A must for umpires.

After a few shots off the hands, I bought this and I don't feel the hits. I love this hand guard.

As much as I try to keep my hands tucked behind my thighs, once in a while I'll get absent-minded and pow. Right on the hand. I've used this hand guard for 3 weekends now and I love it. There are no restrictions to using your hand while wearing it. You have to readjust it every now and again but it's a real hand saver.

The elastic strap that goes around the wrist guard to secure it in place tends to creep off the end of the wrist guard, causing the wrist guard to flop around. I wear long-sleeved jerseys when I’m behind the plate, so I can’t see or feel the elastic strap coming off until it’s too late. I’ve used them in two games and the elastic straps slid off in both games. Left side once, and right side twice. In this evening’s game, I tried wearing sweatbands over the elastic straps to hold them in place and it didn’t work; the elastic strap still slid off the right side wrist guard. It needs something like a belt loop on the backside of the wrist guard to put the elastic strap through to keep it from sliding off or make it a one-piece elastic wrist sleeve with the guard attached to it. Great idea, but the design needs some changes.

I actually used mine for the first time tonight!! It’s hard to rate something without seeing it in action! For umpires that are used to having their hands on their knees like I am, you know what it feels like taking a thrown pitch or foul ball off the hands!! It’s not pleasant! It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, you don’t really forget about it for a couple of weeks!! So I love the way these feel and look while working the plate! But it’ll probably be a little further in the season before I know if they really work!! So please, stay tuned!!

Alright, as far as comfort goes, this is alright. It does have a Velcro stretch strap that goes around the arm to help hold it in place. I had full use of my hand, which wasn't much, considering I had hand surgery last month and wanted some extra protection. It will take a few minutes to get use to, but after that, you really do not feel it on your hand and arm. I did not get hit in the hand as of this review, so I cannot say much about the protection the padding gives.
