Had to return for another size. These were too small. May be a true 36”, but don’t match a size 36" that I wear in most pants.

Pants are sized incorrectly. Every pair of Smitty pants I own, which is a lot, are 36. These fit about like a 33-34. Why they don’t have stretch waistband in heather pants is astonishing as well. Terrible.
