These pants are absolutely incredible. They provide a clean and professional look when you’re on the field. I had a few of my fellow brother umpires tell me about these pants so I finally ordered them. When I tried them on, I knew immediately they were going to be a game changer in the hot summer temperatures. I’m excited to get back out on the field with these new pants!

I will buy no other pants. They are very comfortable, lightweight, and they hold their color. They do NOT fade nearly as quickly as other brands. Also, the “expander waist” is a plus for me, as I need to tuck in extra base layers while working cold weather games up here in ND in the spring.

These pants are very well made and I would highly recommend them for all umpires.

I fully recommend these pants for summer baseball. They breathe so much better than the regular poly-wool umpire pants do. For spring ball, I still wear the regular pants (poly-wool), but when the weather heats up I start to reach for these. They breathe well, dry well (rain or sweat) and you just feel cooler in these with every breeze. These pants tend to wear well, hold their color and look great - what's not to like? Buy a pair and get out there!

I haven't worn these yet, but I got them for the upcoming season. I am a first-year ump and was deciding between these or combo pants. I went with these and can see the benefits of getting plate pants. They allow more room for the shin guards and around the groin area for squatting behind the plate. They are lightweight and should do the job!

Smitty is the standard for plate pants. Great in hot weather, easy to iron and keep fresh, and holds their color for a good amount of time. I enjoy the expander waist for behind the plate as well. Sizing is pretty true, so order with confidence.

For that MLB look, these are your go-to pants. A sharp and crisp look with a true size fit. Judgements are formed prior to the first pitch, and if you want to look like a professional, always dress the part. I highly recommend this item. Also, this adjustable waist garment looks no different and the non-adjustable version, but the comfort is unmatched.

Can't go wrong with these Smitty's. After 5 years and a lot of use my old one's are sun faded but otherwise in very good condition. I'm excited to have the flexible waist band for additional comfort. I always cold wash and air dry them and I don't even need to iron them regularly.

I was a bit skeptical when I saw them online and referred to as “golf pants,” but I decided to try them for the spring season. When I first got them, I thought they would be wrinkly but that’s not true. I have only used them for the plate and only for about 20 games, bit I am very happy with them. I can’t say yet whether they hold up to ball abuse and sun, but so far there are no issues. Of course, it’s easier to see dirt on charcoal compared to heather, but the dirt brushes off pretty easily. Very comfortable and relatively cool. I will order a pair for the bases.

I decided to get new umpire pants after going 20 years with Fecheimer flat front heather gray plate pants. I went with charcoal gray because it seems everyone from MLB on down is wearing them. The problem is they only come with a pleated front. No one in human history has ever looked good in pleated pants. It looks absolutely awful. I am 6’3 190 and it’s just a horrendous look. I just don’t understand why Smitty wouldn’t offer a flat front in charcoal pants. It’s hard to “look the part” when you have these ridiculous looking baggy pleated pants. Terrible.

Nice umpire pants for plate work. A bit too voluminous for bases but not too bad overall. Be sure to allocate time to hem these pants as they come unhemmed from the store. This is indicated in the product description but I missed it in my haste to replace a pair of pants that had developed a hole.

Best pants on the current market, enhancing professional appearance. Material and color holds up well for long-term use if proper laundry care is taken. Extended waistband is ideal, as we all gain/lose weight throughout the year. I carry two pair of plate pants and two pair of base pants with me to every assignment.

Definitely worth it for the price it is listed as. The expanded waistband is worth it and the larger knee to accommodate the shin guards is a good investment. The material is stretchy enough that I can comfortably squat down behind the plate, but not too stretchy so that I run the risk of tearing the material. It is a perfect pair of pants for behind the plate and it also takes into consideration the possibility of rain. When it rains, the water beads up on the pants and just falls off.

First impressions looks good feels good and works well over umpire shin guards. Looking forward to some field time to evaluate how they function under game conditions.

Great, professional-looking umpire pants!! I’ve been wearing these poly-spandex pants for a few years & needed an additional set of plate & base pants. These are the most comfortable, best-looking umpire pants I’ve had. I’ve recently lost 30 pounds so the expander waist band will come in handy. The value of these pants is unsurpassed!!!!

I really like these umpire pants as they are very light and help to keep you cool on those hot days. The expander waistband makes them ultra-comfortable. I just purchased my second pair. The only thing to be wary of is that due to the nature of the lightweight fabric, they are prone to get marked up or very small tears in them if they get hit with a hard shot on your shin guards if the fabric gets pinched on an edge of your shin guards. The marks are not overly noticeable but be aware if you are very sensitive about your "look".

Great umpire pants that are extremely comfortable. Very lightweight and moisture-wicking in warm weather. I like the expander waistband because it gives you some breathing room at the waist like a pair of basketball shorts. Great for working the plate. They fit over the shin guards with plenty of room to spare for mobility. Bought a second pair recently as these are the only umpire pants I'll ever wear behind the plate. Definitely worth the money!

Received the umpire pants and had them heeled. Wore them and they fit great. Plenty of room for gear and looks great. The fit is amazing and very comfortable.

I had ordered and worn the "non-expanding waistband" version previously. Cool, crisp, professional. I just wore the "expanding" version for the first time. Suffering from buyer's remorse for not buying them before. Both other umpires and coaches noticed. Survived heat index of more than 100 degrees in Kansas!!

Does anyone else find these pants impossible to get the wrinkles out? I will wash and immediately throw in the dryer and still comes out a wrinkled mess.

If you wanna know what ultimate comfort is, get these pants. The plate pants are the best I've ever worn. They provide maximum comfort and flexibility while working behind the plate. The spandex stretches when you crouch preventing the dreaded "ride up". A must add to your umpire bag.

I love the look and feel of these pants, but I've noticed that they don't wear well in the places that they rub against my shin guards. The material has started to get bumpy and I don't know how long it will be before it starts to show and I won't want to wear them anymore.

I got these pants after hearing from another umpire about them. They fit true to size. I really like the expandable waist. I worked a weekend tournament this past weekend in Central N.C. and these pants are much lighter and cooler than my old Poly-Wool pair. They are extremely flexible and never bunched up. If you don't own a pair of these, I would highly suggest spending the money and get a pair or 2.

These umpire pants are amazing. I went to a San Jose Giants game and of course paid more attention to the umpires than I did the game and I actually look as good in these pants as the Minor League umpires do. They fit absolutely perfectly and the color and texture give me that professional look I desire. Best umpire pants ever. If you umpire and you don't have these pants, you don't look as good as you should. The waist, the feel, and color make any umpire look and feel like the "Pro" you are. I've been wearing the old poly wool pants with expander waist band for 3 years and they have done the job. I bought these umpire pants a few weeks ago and I've called a full day in them. They're by far the best umpire plate pants available. They look great and they move with you when squatting. They don't ride. Great pants!!
