This thing gets heavy by your third game of a tournament.

Best indicator out there. Have not had a failure ever from this indicator and been using it now well over 10 years. Like the fact I can clean it and lubricate it. The wheels turn so smoothly and the weight is no issue to me. It’s durable and reliable. I rate it 5 stars!!!

I love the feel of this indicator. The notches to a bit getting used, but after I did, I love it. My only complaint is the black number on the silver, recessed background makes it difficult to read. I would like to see a better contrast with the numbers. I do reccomend this product!

Too bulky and heavy for my liking. The dials don't click like I am used to with other indicators. But it looks really cool!

Just the facts: The indicator certainly is durable. Solid steel and hefty. That’s the best thing about it. The black numbers in the recessed areas are not easy to see at a glance. The high mirrored finish frequently catches sunlight and can be blinding. The metal wheels have been chipping the finish on my mask. Wish I could be more positive but there it is. Not recommended.

Love the sturdy construction. Don't like the feel of pre-created bumps.

I like the way it is built. I don't even mind the weight, which is quite heavier than other indicators. The only reason I give it 4 stars is how rough it is on your fingertips, especially when doing multiple games.

Very well constructed with thick metal. A little heavy. Biggest complaint is it is hard to read under lights.

High-quality construction. The first time I used it was a Juco game under the lights. I couldn’t see any of the numbers on the dial. Had to put it right back in my pocket, totally unusable.

Found four problems with this indicator: it is heavy, the numbers are very hard to see under certain lights, the dials seem to click like they are in place but they are not where they need to be, the notches on the dial do not match the count on each dial. I do not recommend new umpires using this indicator. Work with smaller and lighter indicators for a few seasons before you step up to this indicator.

Great indicator, easy to use. The dials rotate easily, and with the tactile feel there’s no need to even look at the indicator. Only gave four stars simply because of the weight. It is a well-built heavy-duty indicator, but it is pretty heavy after a long day of umpiring.

Dials are way easier to click than the other indicators I've used. Feels great in hand. I'm still getting used to the no-look markings on the dials, but it's coming along.

It's a good indicator, easy to take apart and clean. Then only thing that down grades it from a 5-star rating is the way the dials are cut to read, it can be difficult to read without looking because the ball dial has similar feelings to each other and is a bit sharp and can hurt your fingers if used for multiple games.

Let me start by saying I love this indicator. I don't mind the heavier weight. In fact, it makes it feel very sturdy, and it looks great. I like that it can be taken apart to clean, which if done correctly will prevent it from jamming and help it last a lot longer. The only thing that made me give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the dials. I know the notches are meant to help you tell the count and outs without having to look at the indicator itself. But to be frank, all the points and notches can be irritating on the fingertips. My fingers were raw after a 2-day tournament with six games each day. And quite honestly, It's like trying to read Braille in the middle of the game. At first, I tried to read it using only my fingers but I found myself mentally focusing more on the indicator than on the game. I still use it as I would any other indicator. However, I wish they would make a version of this same indicator with a regular grip on the dials.

By far the best indicator on the market. Lasts forever, high quality, easy to clean, and never jams.

Lies well in the hand. The weight is not a problem for me. However, many colleagues find this indicator too heavy.

I got this for my son after graduating the Wounded Warrior Umpire Academy Legacy Camp. Has great weight and is solidly made.

Extremely hard on the fingers when rotating dials, especially when you are doing tournaments.

Seems very nice, but it was too bulky and heavy for my liking.

I used this indicator as my plate indicator! The weight makes it a lot better than the plastic ones! The only drawback is I wish the balls and strikes were switched and shown as called! Other than that, it’s a great tool to have, and I highly recommend it!

Too heavy and the dials don’t seem to want to turn. I went back to my old one.

Like others, the weight takes a moment to adjust to and love. Working thru stiffness and the notches! Pleased, very pleased. Right now I rate it a 3 anticipating a 6!

When I bought it, it was a little stiff. After breaking it in, this is by far my favorite indicator. The weight makes it feel like you are holding something. I don't like the cheap plastic options. Don't give up on its stiffness, it breaks in very nicely.

A little heavy - which I like. Very well-made product. Moves with ease- it just takes some getting used to with the notches! I do wish the numbers could be a little bigger or a bright color.

Indicator works great. I like the notches that allow me to not have to look at it as a reminder of the count. The one reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the reflection. In bright sunlight, the sun reflects a great deal off of the indicator and, ultimately, straight into your eyes.

I love this umpire indicator. I'm not big on the plastic ones and the cheap ones aren't real metal. My old metal one isn't sold anymore so I splurged on this one. I like the weight. I love the sturdiness. I was so used to having a 4/3/3 that the 3/2/2 dials took some getting used to. Not as hard as I thought it might be. I like the feel and recommend it.

Excellent product! I'm still using the one I purchased four years ago. I do have a backup on deck, just in case. Absolutely, this indicator is heavy, but very durable. I do suggest that you clean the item periodically with WD-40 and a Q-tip (after taking it apart) for extended use. One thing that I would change about it would be the glare bouncing off of it when the sun is shining. Otherwise, go ahead and buy this item.

Haven’t used it in a game setting yet, but I can tell this is a solid indicator. The individual wheels are indexed so that you get a click you feel and hear when your turn each wheel. The finish is an attractive chrome-like stainless steel appearance. The two sides are held together by a pair of Phillips head screws, which I suppose will facilitate taking it apart in case it gets dirty. It looks and feels like a $20 item.

Heavy duty, easy to see the numbers and love the notched wheels. It's a little heavier than any indicator that I have owned, but still feels good in my hand and no issues grabbing my mask while holding it in my hand. This will last for many years!

Never look down again to know the count. Sturdy beyond belief, only reason I had to buy a second one was because I foolishly misplaced one I'd been using for almost 10 years. Easily the best $20 investment of my umpiring years.

This is a good indicator, and being a strike-first 3-2-2 is very good. The nubs take some getting used to, but once you can read them, you won't want to go back to a standard style. What would make this a five star review is if the metal on the indicator was in some way reflection-resistant. On a sunny day, it *WILL* blind you if you look at it, and while the whole point of this indicator "don't look at it", it could also potentially blind a pitcher or hitter if the sun hits right.

This is a great indicator. I like the feel of it and have used this for 20 years. Does need lubing up from time to time. Have a little trouble seeing the numbers on night games but that’s my old eyes here. Doubles as brass knuckles if needed.

This is a great indicator; however, the no-look feel is not very intuitive. No balls/strikes/outs and one ball/strike/out is easy, but everything else takes work to figure out. I got it down after one game on the bases, but there is a lot of room for improvement in the design.

Very nice indicator. Love that it has 2-strike and 3-ball counts. The first game it was hard to click but has smoothed out since. Way better than the cheap plastic ones.

This is a fantastic indicator, and seemingly the only one I could find that has 2 strike, strike on left. The clicks are solid, and the notches useful. However, I have 3 complaints: 1- It IS Heavy. I don't notice it in my hand, but definitely do when I put it in a pocket between innings. 2- I used it on a wet day, and it seems to have gotten 'gritty' and the clicks are worse. 3- It is SHINY! On a sunny day it is blindingly so.

This is a nice, heavy-duty umpire indicator. I like the feel of it, and while the notches aren't intuitive, they don't take long to get used to. After the first game, I was wondering what people were talking about with the dials being hard to turn, but the next two games they were indeed hard to turn. I unscrewed the indicator, took the dials off, and sprayed some WD-40 on the posts the dials rest on, put it back together, and it works wonderfully. I don't think I'll ever go back to the cheap plastic indicators.

This indicator has a really good weight to it and is able to be taken apart for regular cleaning and greasing. It has a really good feel to it, especially the differing number of notches on the wheels make it easier to keep the count without looking down at the indicator. Only issue I have found is the metal glint from the sun can make it difficult to look at.

This indicator is amazing! I have gone the entire season without looking at my indicator once. Anytime a player or coach asks me the count or the number of outs, I love being able to quickly feel it and tell them the information without ever looking at my indicator. I am able to always keep my eyes on the action. I highly recommend taking the indicator apart and using some wd-40 to make it easier to turn. Do yourself a favor and buy this indicator! No one should complain that the numbers aren't optic yellow on this indicator because you won't be looking at them! Now All-Star just needs to make a 3-dial one like this because I won't ever use the innings dial. Not to mention you can't "feel" the innings dial, so if you are using it, you'd have to look!

I bought two and will be soon returning them. My impression is that All-Star has taken a simple tool and made it much more heavier than it needs to be. The notched dials irritated my finger. Sometimes you just gotta keep things simple and practical.

This is my favorite umpire indicator and have bought several and keep them on hand as backups. Other umpires that have picked up my indicator complain about the weight but I do not mind it. The notches make it easy to know the count without having to look which is nice. My only knock on this indicator is that I do wish it had a different color on the wheels so the numbers stand out more when you do look at it.

One word instantly comes to mind with this indicator-SUBSTANTIAL. This is a well made, well thought out piece of kit. Great feel in the hand, positive clicks, and no sharp edges, like other metal indicators. All-Star did it correct with this design.

Once I oiled the dials, I liked this a lot better. However, the flashy exterior reflects the sun sometimes into my eyes for a little brief sun flash!

I like the feel and the weight of it personally but get why others don’t. I have huge hands and this is a bit big for me. I haven’t had issues seeing the numbers in the light.

This is a great indicator upgrade for me. I love the no look feel of the wheels which did take a little acclimation, but is not a problem. I still look just to make sure especially when close to 3 balls or 2 strikes. Its weight is noticeable, but I know it's there and exactly where it is in my hand. The only thing that has caught my attention with this one is that if the sun is over my right shoulder, I have reflected the sun into my eyes. Keep it in the shadow of your head and that won't happen. Great umpire indicator!

Very disappointing. Numbers not prominent and hard to see, even in day. Wheels hard to turn - my fingers were raw after 4 innings. It's built like a tank, very good, but the other issues make this a bad item. I will be returning this item shortly.

Overall, I like it and I am sure it is indestructible. But the notches are pretty hard to feel and figure out what it means. I expected it to be more intuitive. It also is rough on the fingers after a long game the pointer finger is pretty sore. However, the visibility is the biggest issue; under the lights it’s hard to see the numbers.

This indicator is certainly well made. It is heavy relative to others I've used. The notches will take some getting used to but that is why I bought this indicator. As others have said, the numbers are a little difficult to read at night when covering the bases (but that is what the notches are for). Overall I like the product and would recommend it to others.

I've had my original one for about 10 years now. It is a little heavy, but indestructible. Screws on the back allow you to take apart, clean and lubricate. Love it.

This product is made very well. That being said, it's heavier than I expected.

I like it as long as it's not hot out. Became almost unusable behind the plate when my hands got sweaty in the Florida heat and humidity.

Love the weight of this indicator! Feels great in the hand. Its a bit pricey for a indicator, but I am hoping the sturdy build will last a long time and make it worth the investment. Brand new, the dials are a bit tough to turn, but I assume they will wear in over time.

Love the heavier weight and the fact that with 2 screws you can take it apart and quickly clean. Notches on the dials make it easy to click. Very good quality. Every ump I hand it to notices the heavier weight right away. Feels good in your hand.

Just received mine and my first game with it was a night game on the bases. The numbers are difficult to see and I have 20/20 vision. The dial notching lacks. I notched my Champro indicator myself at zero, I find it easy to know where my dials are at. The notches on this indicator are not clear as to zero, though the dial has a noticeable point at the ball one, strike one and out one part of the dials. I will be making my own mark at zero. It is very solid in its manufacturing, but there is room for improvement. I am considering returning this and ordering another Champro for 8.99. The price for this one is a little much.

Great indicator, high quality materials that will last forever. What would make it perfect is a flat black finish, as the chrome finish has a tendency to pick up a sun glare at inopportune times.

Nice umpire indicator. Heavy, durable, notched wheels, with positive stops. Has screws on the back, for disassembly to clean the dirt out. Only complaint I have is that the numbers are difficult for me to see, during night games. Considering repainting the digits with optic yellow or white paint.

Most solid indicator I have ever used albeit somewhat heavier in weight compared to others.

Definitely the best indicator I've used to date. It is easily 3 times heavier than its plastic counterpart. Although the dials are stiff, a little silicone lubricant helps with ease whilst holding its place. Robust, easy to read without looking, heavy, and ergonomically correct for my hands. The 3-2-2 was crucial for me as having the additional number on others had thrown me off a time or two in the past.

I wanted to replace my 20-year-old +POS metal notched 3/2/2 and this has done the job. The only thing I hate is when you look down in the sun at it! But with the notches, I only look at the count once a week or so.

Like the weight, little harder than other indicators to move the dials.

Bought two of them, have used for 3 seasons, Love the ergonomics, a little heavier than the plastic ones, but I like the weight. Rolling the dials has a distinct click and has slight resistance which helps me from rolling too many units. One distinct issue I have with (1 less star) it is the polished finish which is blinding on a bright day, I painted the face of mine black to reduce sun glare. Non-reflective surface would make this 5 stars in my book...

This indicator is heavy, so I would not expect a thin sheet metal version. This has a cast body. It took me a few games to get used to the weight, but now it is not an issue. The one thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is the visibility of the numbers. The body is fairly shiny metallic, as are the wheels with contrasting black on the numbers. However, I do not feel that this is enough contrast for easy viewing. Since it is cast, I could disassemble easily (2 screws) and then paint the dials with high visibility paint. The black numbers on that background make this indicator perfect.

These are perfect! They are super heavy duty, so will take any knock and the 'no-look notches' are perfect! That saves me having to notch my indicators any more. Would definitely get these again if I ever needed to and will recommend them to my fellow association members!

I've had quite a few indicators but this is by far my favorite! The weight and feel fit great in my hand. The glare can be a big problem, but I used blackboard tape to cover and solved the problem. I also love the fact that I can open it up to clean and oil.

I have used several brands but this is the best so far. I like that I don't have to roll through to get to 0. Super handy and great for fellas with big hands.

Absolutely love this umpire indicator! Feels rock solid in my hand and I personally love the slightly heavier weight than the plastic indicators, which I used for years before getting this a couple years ago. Also love the 3-2-2 layout, plus the innings dial to use if necessary. Note that the dials can be a little stiff at times, but that has not caused any issues for me. I have heard of guys opening theirs up and putting in a drop of oil to loosen them up, but I haven't felt the need to do so. Highly recommend this indicator.

Love this indicator! I've been using this model indicator for better than 6 years. After using it, I find it hard to use any other. It is so solid and I love the heavier feel. It is definitely worth the few extra dollars. Only negative I can find is the chrome face, sometimes the sun or lights can cause a reflection on your eyes, to solve that, I took a piece of scotch-brite and dulled up the face. Only one on the market like it. Thanks ALL-STAR!

This is my second one, had the first one for over 5 yrs. I think this is the best umpire indicator out there. Works great. Comes apart well, just two screws and once cleaned and oiled up works like brand new once again. The reason for a new one is I wore this one out. I will never buy any other indicators. I don't really get why you would want one that tells you it is strike 3 or ball 4.

Went to this from a pretty cheap plastic one. The bulk in my opinion is worth it since to me it feels stronger. Wheels slide OK but aren't the greatest. As well as going from a 4-3-3 counter to a 3-2-2 counter was pretty difficult. Also carries a hefty price tag that could definitely be lowered to a more plausible number.

Why did nobody tell me these existed when I started umpiring? This is by far the best umpire indicator I have ever used. 1) It does away with the worthless "strike 3" and "ball 4" options (some might not consider this a positive, but I certainly do). 2) You can feel exactly what the status Is without looking. I never miss any game action because I'm resetting my indicator. 3) With a screwdriver, you can take it apart and use a dry lubricant (I use graphite) when it gets stiff. My only regret is that I didn't purchase it sooner.

Had this umpire indicator and tossed it out...too heavy, wheels don't rotate well, not good for hot days and I can never get used to the strikes being first. It makes no sense to have strikes listed first on any indicator....love the 3-2-2 so I bought the cheap plastic one with the balls first and works just as well and it a lot cheaper.

I know some reviewers don't, but I like the heft of this. Will see how well it holds up, but early indications are good, particularly compared to cheap plastic indicators. Big fan of the 3-2-2. Two drawbacks. Not fun to hold on a particularly humid day if your hands are sweaty. Also sometimes the wheel rotation is not smooth and you wonder if it will be caught between numbers. I suppose the notching is good for those who want to use it, but I don't see myself doing that. Good thing on the wheels is that they don't end up blistering or hurting your fingers as often happens after a full game using one of the cheaper plastic indicators.

This is by far the best indicator on the market. - The "no look" ability of this is fabulous once you learn the groove pattern (its like reading braille) I can go a whole game without looking at my indicator - The weight of this indicator is heavy but I find it makes it easy to find in your ball bag - Well built and will last a very long time - Easy to turn the dials out of the package

I read all the bad reviews, all of them complained about the weight of the indicator, this was not an issue for me at all. I'm a bit disappointed, I should have noticed it myself, but when reading the Indicator from left to right it says Strike then Ball. I would have preferred that it would be like my old indicator where it is Ball then Strike. And you know... because we say "3 Balls, 2 Strikes." NOT, 2 Strikes, 3 Balls.

My favorite indicator so far! I had a bad habit of looking at my indicator too much until I found this one. I learned the pattern of the notches in the first inning that I used this indicator and now I don't look down at it at all! Don't let that habit be what an evaluator dings you on... get this and you won't have to worry about it.

If you like a MANLY Indicator, this is the one for you. It took me a few games to get use to the weight. I like the 2 strike, 3 ball, 2 out. A lot less clicking. The price is quite a bit more, but well worth it if you do a lot of games. Scratch up the shiny surface with a wire brush to reduce sun glare during day games.

I have two of these indicators, and they are the best-made indicators I've ever owned in over 20 years. Very solid in the hand, very durable, these indicators can take a beating. Frankly, I don't place much stock in the complaints about the weight, because while they're heavier than a plastic or aluminum indicator, you're not carrying a brick out there. Buy one of these, and you'll never have to buy another indicator again. One downside to this indicator is that the dials and the casing are both metal, which makes the wheels difficult to turn out of the box. I unscrewed the back (another bonus), took some CLP (lubricant for gun parts) and easily fixed it. The wheels now spin easily. The other downside to this indicator is that the notch the ball wheel is very pointy. Anytime there's a 1-ball count, the notch is sticking straight out. I've taken a couple shots to the hand on this count, resulting in the indicator pinching and creating a blood blister. I've learned to adjust how I hold the indicator to prevent this from happening, but it's something to keep in the back of your mind. I do wish All-Star made a "non-notched" option, since frankly, I've never found these notches to be advantageous. However, I consider both of these "downsides" to be very small nits to pick, and I still give this indicator a 4-star rating due to its excellent construction and durability

I love this Indicator. The weight is perfect. I never lose in my bag. Does anyone know if they make a 3 wheel indicator the same die cast? I don't use the innings but I want the weight.

Certainly, this is a well made product. Solid construction, but, also very heavy. My biggest issue was that it is a 3 ball / 2 strike / 2 out indicator, and then rolls to a 0. If you are used to a 4/3/3 indicator, this may effect your game. I found it easier to just do what I've been doing with my 4/3/3 steel, than trying to adapt to this 3/2/2 one. If I'd started with this, I can see where it would last a lifetime. Old dog - no new trick this day.

I have carried this indicator on-field for several years, and I love it. It is the most durable indicator you can find, and it is is the 3/2/2 style that I prefer. It is heavier than most indicators, but that isn't really an issue, especially as I work mine from my ball bag, not in my hand. The weight actually makes it easier to find, as does its slightly larger size. Several umpires in my association have begun carrying it, after having used mine.

Very heavy and slick. The notches are tough to distinguish. The negatives outweigh the only positive which is that it's the only 3-2-2 indicator with innings which I like to keep track of runs scored.
